Who we are

This website is run by Belfast Star Basketball Club, a registered charity in Northern Ireland (charity number NIC103164, registered 19 April 2016). The club is responsible for the personal information collected through this website.

What we collect and why

When you use the contact form

We collect your name, email address, subject and message so that we can reply to you. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: answering questions about the club. Please do not include sensitive information, such as health details, in the form.

Spam protection (Google reCAPTCHA)

The contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to stop automated spam. To do this, Google collects information such as your IP address, browser details and how you interact with the page, and sets cookies. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: keeping the form secure. Google processes this information under its own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

Website security and server logs

Like all websites, our hosting provider records technical details of each visit, including your IP address, the page requested, your browser type and the time. These logs are used only to keep the website secure and working.

Cookies

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies. The contact page sets one session cookie, which protects the form against forged submissions and is deleted when you close your browser. Google reCAPTCHA sets its own cookies on the contact page, as described above. These cookies are needed for the form to work securely, so they do not require consent.

Who we share it with

• Hostinger, which hosts this website and our email. Hostinger holds the server logs described above (your IP address, the pages you requested, your browser type and the time), and your contact form message passes through its email service on its way to us.
• Google, which provides reCAPTCHA on the contact page only. Google receives your IP address, browser details and how you interact with the page, and sets its own cookies. It does not receive your name, email address or message. Google may process this information outside the UK, under safeguards approved for international transfers.

We do not sell your information or use it for marketing.

How long we keep it

• Contact form messages and our replies: 12 months, then deleted.
• Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period for security, then deleted automatically.

Club members, players and photographs

This notice covers the website only. For how the club handles information about members, players and their parents or carers, contact the club at the address above. Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to how we use it, and to ask us to restrict its use. To make a request, email contact@belfaststar1964.org. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

We will update this page if the way we handle information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
